How do I start my own fashion line?
I got inspired by Pastry created by angela and vanessa simmons. fashion is my passion and I want to do it now. What should i do? i live in tallahassee and should i go to newyork? what should i do?
If you feel the need to start your design career immediately, you should also learn to sew, and start making your own clothing. Get some business cards made up, and if some one complements something you’ve made, let them know that it’s you’re the design and give them a card. You could also make things for friends and ask them to pass out your business cards as well. Once you learn to sew fairly well, you can rent booth space at fairs and sell items you’ve made.
The fashion industry is bigger in NY, but you’d be better off getting a degree in fashion design from an accredited university before trying to take a bite out of the Big Apple. If you move to NY and just start applying for design jobs with no degree or experience, you won’t get very far.
